Description
Hampden Park is the home of Queens Park FC, one of the last amateur clubs participating in professional league football, as well as the Scottish National Team. The ground has also hosted American football and motorcycle speedway in addition to being the home of Glasgow Celtic for one season when their home at Celtic Park was renovated.
Hampden Park was the largest football ground in the world from 1903 until 1950 when surpassed by the Maracana in Brasil. Peak capacity of the ground was officially 183,000 but officially only 150,000 tickets would be printed for an event. The highest attendance at the ground was 149,415 for a match between Scotland and England in 1937 but reports estimate and additional 15 to 25 thousand fans entered the ground without tickets.
