Spotland Stadium was opened in 1920 and the record attendance for a match is 24,231 for a match against Notts County in 1949. Rochdale AFC have the record for longest period in the lowest division, 1974-2010, and were the first club from the bottom tier to reach a Cup Final: the 1962 League Cup where they were defeated 4-0 by Norwich City over two-legs.
