Description
Bramall Lane has been the home Sheffield United since 1889 and was also the home of Yorkshire County Cricket Club until the last cricket match in 1973. Sharing the ground with a cricket club left ground three sided with a cricket pavilion some distance away on the open side. Bramall Lane is the only football ground that has hosted both England cricket and football international matches.
The open side of the pitch was closed off in 1975 with the completion of the South Stand. Unfortunately this eventually led to the demolition of the cricket pavilion in 1981 and a car park is now located in that spot.
