Description

The Shay in Halifax opened as a football ground in 1921 and was the home of Halifax Town until the club folded in 2008. Peak capacity of the ground was 40,000 with a record attendane of 36,885 for a 1953 FA Cup Fifth Round match against Tottenham Hotspur.By 1985 safety regulations had reduced capacity to under 2,000 spectators. Redevelopment and the tenancy of new club FC Halifax Town and Halifax Rugby League FC has seen capacity climb up to around 10,000.
