Santiago Bernabeu stadium was originally named Nuevo Estadio Chamartin but was renamed after club president Santiago Bernabeu in 1955. Peak capacity was 125,000 supporters.
The stadium hosted the final of the 1964 European Championship, won by Spain, and the 1982 World Cup Final won by Italy.
The ground was renovated in the early 1990�s with the existing stands jacked up and a new lower ring of 20,000 seats constructed underneath.
