Molineaux fortunes have mirrored those of the Wolves with the stadium declining from the club’s peak in the 1950’s when mid-week friendlies with opposition from around the world were popular enough to warrant televised coverage by the BBC. Thirty years later the club was mired in the fourth division and two stands, the North Bank & Waterloo Road, were left condemned & closed for safety violations. The two stands were finally demolished and replaced in the early 1990’s.
Molineaux’s peak capacity was over 60,000 spectators but the current stadium has a capacity of 31,700 for football.
